Of course nothing replaces a drink of water to combat dryness - and the lips are the first to tell us when we are dehydrated.   However being in air conditioned or heated rooms, playing outdoor sport, gardening, running, labouring, surfing, flying - whether we are indoors or out in a hot or windy climate - it is our lips that are the most exposed.
